Brussels, 31/03/2011 (Agence Europe) - Commissioner Lázsló Andor (social affairs) will present the Commission's third demography report to the press in Budapest on Friday 1st April. This will take place within the framework of the European Week on Demography and the Family organised by the Hungarian Presidency to the EU Council, from 28 March to 2 April in the same town. The Week will have allowed decision-makers and participants throughout Europe to discuss recent developments in the fields of active ageing and family policies. In cooperation with Eurostat, the demography report provides the latest facts and figures needed for assessing where member states stand in responding to the challenges of demographic change, a Commission announcement indicates.
The Commission will also present the results of a Eurobarometer survey on new Europeans, covering the questions: Who are they? Where can they be found? Such are the questions underpinning the survey as new Europeans are often hidden in existing data sources and include children of migrants, mixed couples, international students, retirement migrants and expats.
