17/03/2011 (Agence Europe) - Ministerial meeting in Lapland is cancelled. An informal meeting of foreign ministers from the United Kingdom, Turkey, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Denmark and Finland, initially scheduled for the weekend of 18-20 March in Saariselkä (Lapland), has been cancelled due to the disasters in Japan and Libya. “The situation among others in Libya and Japan is so serious that the foreign ministers are needed in their own capitals”, Finnish Minister Alexander Stubb, who initiated the “Lapland Retreat” meeting, said on Thursday 17 March. Catherine Ashton, said Stubb, was also to attend the informal meeting. (H.B./transl.jl)
