10/03/2011 (Agence Europe) - Clearance for Cardo takeover by Assa Abloy. On Thursday 10 March, the European Commission cleared the proposed acquisition of Cardo AB by Assa Abloy AB. Cardo and Assa Abloy are Swedish companies that supply automated doors and related after-sales services. The Commission's examination of the proposed transaction showed that the activities of Cardo and Assa Ably are largely complementary since they focus mostly on different types of doors and related services. The Commission therefore concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it. (O.L./transl.jl)
