Brussels, 17/02/2011 (Agence Europe) - Nearly 30 trans-national cultural projects supported by the European Union were presented at a conference held in Brussels on the subject Culture in motion: Pathways to EU2020, to highlight the contribution of innovative cultural partnerships to the achievement of the EUROPE 2020 objectives, in favour of intelligent, inclusive and sustainable growth. “The projects that we are highlighting demonstrate that culture-based creativity can bring benefits for many other sectors”, said Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth Androulla Vassiliou. The projects which were presented have received support of between €100,000 and €2.5 million from various European funds, including the Culture programme. These projects include Imagine 2020 - seeing climate change through art, which supports artists tackling the issue of climate change, presenting environmentally-friendly works of art, the lyrical art festival of Aix-en-Provence, which promotes the compositions and output of young European artists and European Media Art Network, a project which supports artists working in experimental cinema, sound-based art and digital art.
