Brussels, 06/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - “It is with great regret I received the news of the abhorrent terrorist attack at the Two Saints church in Alexandria”, writes President Herman Van Rompuy in a message addressed on 4 January to the head of the Egyptian state. He expresses his “deepest sorrow” and “heartfelt condolences” to the families of all the “innocent victims of these despicable attacks” and conveys his “sympathy and support to the injured for a speedy recovery”. The attack, he says, is “a vicious and inhumane act” that he strongly condemns. It brings “fear and hatred into the life of the entire Egyptian society”, Van Rompuy adds, affirming his strong support for “efforts by the Egyptian authorities to bring those responsible to justice”.
