On Tuesday 4 January, the European Commission authorised the Swiss retailer, Coop, to take over sole control of the German company, transGourmet, founded and controlled since 2005 by the same Coop and the German retailer group, REWE. Coop is a Swiss group mainly active in the retail of daily consumer products in Switzerland, where it also operates restaurants and filling stations. It is also active in the wholesale of daily consumer products and in the production and supply of meat products, seafood and ready-made food. transGourmet is active in the wholesale trade of daily consumer goods in France, Germany, Poland, Romania, Switzerland and Russia.
