ESMA could, in case of emergency, be given power to prohibit short selling of some assets

Brussels, 09/09/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 15 September, Internal Market Commissioner Michel Barnier will bring forward a draft regulation which will seek to make short selling techniques for securities more transparent and more easily supervised at the same time as he proposes European rules of derivatives market products (see EUROPE 10208).
