Austrian legislation on operation of casinos is discriminatory and lacks transparency, especially with regard to operators from other member states

Brussels, 09/09/2010 (Agence Europe) - In a judgment, in Case C-64/08, handed down on Thursday 9 September, the Court of Justice of the EU ruled that Austrian legislation which allows only companies established in Austria to obtain a concession to operate a casino constitutes a restriction to freedom of establishment, in contravention of Article 43 of the EC Treaty.
