Brussels, 30/08/2010 (Agence Europe) - The European Students Union (ESU) has said that, since the last meeting of ministers with responsibility for the Bologna Process in participating states on 11-12 March, students are still confronted with the same problems and that the European Higher Education Area remains far from completion. At its last meeting on 24-25 August, the ESU said that the credit transfer system, which allows recognition of work covered by students who wish to continue their studies abroad, has still to be fully applied. It says that there is a lack of vision and insufficient attention paid to students, despite the adoption of new working methods aimed largely at extending the transfer of know-how across the EHEA. These new methods, however, lack the funding to allow them to be properly implemented. “We regret this, and will continue to push for a serious discussion on the topics: lack of social and educational support for students, financial and administrative barriers for students who want to study in another country, and the way-too-slow paradigm shift towards an education that is first and foremost based on the learner's perspective,” said ESU Executive Committee member Robert Santa.
