Brussels, 27/08/2010 (Agence Europe) - The president of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, has decided to replace the first formal meeting of the college of EU commissioners after the summer break, scheduled for Wednesday 1 September 2010, with a two-day “working seminar” at the Val Duchesse Castle near Brussels. The seminar will discuss three main issues - key issues of the moment (like the Roma question in France and humanitarian aid for Pakistan - see related article); an assessment of the first six months of the Barroso II Commission, particularly implementation of the Lisbon Treaty; and upcoming political initiatives planned by the European Commission for the autumn. The college of commissioners will also hold a preliminary debate on its draft work programme for 2011. (H.B./transl.fl)
