02/08/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 2 August, the Council of Ministers of the EU officially took the decision to extend the mandate of the mission for the reform of the security sector in Guinea-Bissau (EU SSR Guinea-Bissau) which expires on 30 September (EUROPE 10147). However, it is not yet known whether the representation of the EU in this country will be reinforced by the justice and security experts of the mission. This decision will be made in September. The mission, which was launched in June 2008, was mandated to provide assistance and advice to the local authorities for the implementation of the reform of the security sector as defined in the national security strategy.
