Second reading compromise on draft regulation banning trade of illegally logged timber and wood products in EU

Brussels, 17/06/2010 (Agence Europe) - It is a victory for the fight against global deforestation. European Parliament, EU Council and Spanish Presidency negotiators were successful, on Wednesday 16 June in Strasbourg, in reaching a second reading compromise on the draft regulation aimed at effectively combating the trade in illegally logged timber and derived wood products in the EU.
