09/06/2010 (Agence Europe) - On the invitation of Greens/EFA MEPs, Michèle Rivasi, Sandrine Bélier and José Bové, director Coline Serreau presented a pre-release viewing of his documentary on Tuesday 8 June. His film, “Local Solutions for Global Disorder” illustrates the ecological and human cost to so-called conventional farming and questions the “green revolution”. José Bové pointed out that Europe “is it at a turning point with reform of the post-2013 common agricultural policy (CAP). It is a real challenge because we have a real opportunity for changing course”. The MEP added that conventional agriculture costs the taxpayer dearly because it is very highly subsidised. He warned that “changing CAP aid is a real political debate and it should be carried out on the ground and at the European Parliament, if not, we will never get the Commission and member states to change”.
