EU makes real progress on divorce, ECHR and rights of suspected and accused persons despite imbroglio over protection of victims

Luxembourg, 04/06/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 4 June, EU justice ministers took key decisions with a view to taking the European area of justice and freedom forward. A new stage was crossed in favour of enhanced cooperation on divorce. The EU will soon be able to negotiate its accession to the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and suspected and accused persons may enjoy enhanced rights of interpretation and translation in criminal matters.
