31/05/2010 (Agence Europe) - Catherine Ashton has welcomed the agreement on follow-up of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) adopted on Friday 28 May in New York, which also provides for the creation of a nuclear arms-free zone in the Middle East. The EU will “immediately engage in the preparation of its contribution to the process for the implementation of the Middle East Resolution”, said Ashton, the EU high representative for foreign affairs, in a statement.
