Brussels, 19/05/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 17 May, the European Parliament narrowly approved the request by the EPP Group to delay voting on the report by Edit Bauer) (EPP, Slovakia) on the organisation of the working time of persons performing mobile road transport activities until June. This contentious report will take a position on the issue of excluding (as proposed by the European Commission and backed by the EPP) self-employed workers from the scope of the current rules on road hauliers' driving times. The Parliamentary social affairs committee, which is the competent committee, voted in April to include self-employed drivers within the scope of the draft directive. (A.By./transl.rt)
