18/05/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 18 May, European Ombudsman Nikiforos Diamandouros welcomed acknowledgment by the European Commission of an administrative error on the number of cod fishing days in the West of Scotland. The Commission acknowledged that it had made an administrative error, mistakenly switching data between two columns of a table. The error led to a 10 % reduction of fishing days allocated for a specific group of vessels in the West of Scotland (see EUROPE 10077). The Clyde Fishermen's Association, which represents the fishermen of the area, had referred the matter to the Ombudsman. The matter is now closed. (L.C./transl.rt)
