Brussels, 04/05/2010 (Agence Europe) - The 7th EuroCine 27 festival, an initiative supported by the European Commission, will take place on 9 May in five European capitals (Brussels, Paris, Rome, Madrid and Luxembourg), showing a selection of films from the 27 member states. This year, the festival will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Robert Schuman Declaration announcing the creation of the ECSC, the forerunner of today's European Union. “It is this 'cultural community' in its incredible diversity that we wish to celebrate with this festival whilst playing tribute to the memory of a tireless promoter of Europe”, said Viviane Reding, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for justice, fundamental rights and citizenship. EuroCine 27 provides a unique opportunity to discover the cinema of neighbouring countries as most of the films shown do not have distributors and therefore have little chance of being seen outside their national territory, the organisers say.
