MEPs want to go further in protecting animal welfare

Brussels, 20/04/2010, (Agence Europe)- On Monday 19 April, MEPs debated the report by Marit Paulsen (ALDE, Sweden) on the evaluation and results of the Community action plan on animal welfare for the period 2006-2010. In this review, Paulsen emphasised enhancing legislation, particularly for the directive on pigs, animal transport and the use of antibiotics in animal rearing. She also wants more comprehensive protection to prevent competition in the Union and with third countries. The MEP...
