07/04/2010 (Agence Europe) - With a section of the press reporting that Greece intends to renegotiate the support plan agreed by the European Council, the Commission has said that it has no knowledge of any such move by the Greek authorities. “No, we are not aware of any changes and we have no further comment on the different speculation we have read in the press,” a Commission spokesman said on Wednesday 7 April. Following rumours that Greece might reject the conditions imposed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) if the support plan were to be activated, the disparity between Greek and German 10-year government bonds briefly exceeded 4%, a little more than in January. On Wednesday, IMF experts began an inspection visit of roughly two weeks to Greece. They will examine ways of improving budget management and of toughening efforts to tackle tax fraud in the country.
