Civil liberties committee rejects measures on rescue of migrants at sea

Brussels, 18/03/2010 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament may veto a proposed set of guidelines for surveillance by the Frontex agency of the EU's external maritime borders. On Wednesday 17 March, the members of the Parliament's civil liberties committee (LIBE) adopted by 24 votes to 11 a resolution (EPP, ALDE, Greens, ECR) rejecting the Council's proposal for a decision to help member states faced with the problem of migrants' interception at sea and disembarkation.
