17/03/2010 (Agence Europe) - The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) announced on Wednesday 17 March 2010 that 76% of chicken carcasses in the EU are contaminated with Campylobacter and 15.7% with Salmonella. Samples of chickens leaving 561 abattoirs in 26 EU Member States, Switzerland and Norway showed that salmonella varied widely from one country to the next, from 0% to 26.6, but as high as 85.6% in Hungary, explains EFSA.
