08/03/2010 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, 8 March, the European Commission presented 12 European Inventor of the Year awards for 2010. Those selected included innovative inventors in a variety of different areas ranging from protecting drinking water; carbon molecule synthesis; cancer treatments and digital data encryption. The three-dimensional motion sensor for use in wireless controllers like the motion control sensor of the Nintendo Wii, civilian use of GPS, using fuel batteries in mobile applications, “ green” plastic and Internet access based on electric wall applications are also in the running. The President of the European Patents Office (EPO), Alison Brimelow, will award the prizes to the four winners on 28 April in Madrid.
