03/03/2010 (Agence Europe) - The EU and the United States will support new, more severe sanctions against Iran at the UN Security Council if Teheran does not soon decide to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on its nuclear programme. The EU will support the action of the UN Security Council if Iran continues to not cooperate with the international community on its nuclear programme, the Spanish Presidency said on Wednesday addressing IAEA governors in Vienna. It went on to say that the EU is ready to take the necessary decisions to accompany this process at the Security Council. The continuing failure of Iran to meet its international obligations requires a clear response, including appropriate measures, the Spanish Presidency states. If nothing happens, the international community will have no other choice than to impose new, more severe sanctions to make Iran responsible, affirmed the US ambassador to the IAEA, Glyn Davies.
