03/03/2010 (Agence Europe) - Speaking on behalf of the European Union, EU High Representative Catherine Ashton calls for the resumption of political dialogue in Ivory Coast to solve the new political crisis after recall of the government and a disbanding of the independent electoral committee on 12 February 2010. In a statement issued on 2 March 2010, Ashton points out that the EU wants the process of organising the elections to be immediately resumed, adding that Ivory Coast needs a government and an independent electoral committee that can take effective and transparent action to help solve the crisis. The EU calls on politicians in the Ivory Coast to meet their responsibilities in this connection. (A.N.)
