01/03/2010 (Agence Europe) - On the fringes of the 26 February Justice and Home Affairs Council, the EU's judicial cooperation agency, Eurojust, signed a cooperation agreement (a memorandum of understanding) with the United Nations Organisation to Tackle Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The memorandum of understanding was signed by the UNODC director, Antonio Maria Costa, and Michèle Coninsx, the interim president of Eurojust. The memorandum of understanding will enable both organisations to exchange legal information and best practice, and organise joint training courses. UNODC will grant Eurojust members access to databases and other legal tools. The organisations add that: “Eurojust will, upon request from UNODC and on a case-by-case basis, examine whether information from Eurojust can be transmitted to UNODC; the exchange of information does not cover operational personal data”.
