In 2008, migrants transferred €32 billion to their former countries of residence

Brussels, 11/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - In the EU, money sent home by migrants to their former country of residence - usually referred to as “workers remittances” - amounted to €31.8 billion in 2008, compared to €31.3 billion in 2007 and €19.4 billion in 2004. These figures, published by Eurostat, the European Union Statistical Office, on Thursday 11 February, include both intra-EU27 and extra-EU27 flows.
