Brussels, 03/02/2010 (Agence Europe) - A conference bringing together professionals of the Euro-Mediterranean audiovisual sector will be held in Paris from 8 to 11 April, organised by the Institut National de l'Audiovisuel (INA) of France. Placed under the aegis of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, the meeting, which is the 17th if its kind, aims to set up a permanent Mediterranean audiovisual conference (COPEAM), organisers say. The project comes within the context of the upcoming culture ministers' meeting and the heads of government summit meeting for the Union for the Mediterranean in June, the organisers say, adding that the session will take on an exceptional character this year as it will present three pilot projects adopted in April 2009 during the meeting in Cairo - (1) the creation of a channel for the Mediterranean (first Mediterranean TV channel to be multicultural and multilingual and diffused by satellite); - (2) MeD MeM (the first web portal on Mediterranean audiovisual heritage); and - (3) the Audiovisual University of the Mediterranean (the first network of audiovisual and cinema schools and universities of the Mediterranean Basin).
