Brussels, 11/12/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament's political parties decided on Thursday 10 December to set up an intergroup (a cross-party group) on youth issues, based on a written statement by the European Parliament on increasing youth involvement in EU policies and regular cooperation between the European Youth Forum (EYF) and several MEPs (see EUROPE 9733). The Youth Intergroup will be attended by MEPs from all political parties and all EP committees and will enable MEPs in the new parliament to work more effectively on young people's expectations and needs over the next fives years, explains the EYF. EYF chair, Tine Radinja, said MEPs were preparing to champion a truly over-arching approach to youth policy, taking in all aspects of the lives of young people in Europe and increasing the EP's role in youth policy issues.
