16/11/2009 (Agence Europe) - In Paris on Friday 13 November, EU member states' counter-terrorism chiefs decided to set up a Counter-Terrorism Coordination Centres Committee (CTCCC) to better share available information. The CTCCC, “a non-bureaucratic instrument”, should help bring “understanding of the overall situation, on the level of the threat,” Loïc Garnier, head of the French Counter-terrorism Coordination Unit (Uclat), is quoted by AFP as saying. The idea for such a body was launched by Spain at a G6 meeting (home affairs ministers from France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom) in February 2005. In tackling terrorism, EU member states already take part in the Club of Bern for heads of intelligence services and the Atlas Group for intervention units. (B.C./transl.rt)
