23/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 29 October, a conference on “Poverty: Perceptions and Reality - The Communication Challenge”, will take place, jointly organised by the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities and the Directorate-General for Communication. It will bring together a variety of participants and stakeholders in the fight against poverty and social exclusion including European institutions, NGOs, social partners, local authorities, international organisation and academics. The conference aims to provide an exchange of views that is open, informative and analytical and which tackles the issue of stereotyping in poverty and social exclusion. It also seeks to develop sustainable media relations in view of creating a network for the European Year against Poverty and Social Exclusion 2010. Information: 2010againstpoverty@ec.europa.eu (G.B.)
