EP approves visa waiver for six countries

Brussels, 21/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 20 October, MEPs adopted the reports by Simon Busuttil (EPP, Malta) on proposals for Council decisions on the conclusion of short-stay visa waiver agreements between the European Community and Antigua and Barbuda (612 to 29, with 31 abstentions), the Bahamas (608 votes to 31, with 33 abstentions), Barbados (604 votes to 29, with 30 abstentions), Mauritius (602 votes to 32, with 28 abstentions), St Kitts and Nevis (603 votes to 28, with 33 abstentions) and the Seychelles (610 votes to 28, with 29 abstentions). These agreements will allow European Union citizens and nationals of the six above-mentioned countries to stay for up to three months in any period of six months on the territory of the other contracting party. The agreement will allow nationals of the six countries to travel to only that part of the territories of France the Netherlands located in Europe. (B.C./transl.rt)
