10/07/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 9 July, the European Commission approved the proposed merger whereby EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW) of Germany, which is jointly controlled by Electricité de France International S.A. (EDF) of France and Zweckverband Oberschwäbische Elektrizitätswerke (OEW) of Germany, acting through its subsidiary EnBW Holding A.S. (EnBW Turkey) of Turkey, and Borusan Holding A.S. (Borusan) of Turkey would acquire joint control of Borusan Enerji Yatirimlari VE Üretim A.S. ( Borusan Enerji) of Turkey by way of purchase of shares. EnBW produces electricity and gas and is also active in telecommunications, waste recycling and financial services. Borusan is active in the steel industry, logistics, telecommunications and energy industries. Borusan Enerji generates electricity in Turkey. (O.L./transl.rt)
