05/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 4 June, the European Commission granted clearance to the proposed joint venture between ArcelorMittal SA of Luxembourg, the world's largest steel manufacturing group, and Borusan Holdings A.S. of Turkey. The joint venture will produce hot strip steel. The Commission also cleared the acquisition of joint control of Global Aeronautica LLC of the US by its compatriots The Boeing Company and Alenia North America Inc., which belongs to the Italian Finmeccanica group. Alenia North America builds aircraft and aerostructures. Global Aeronautica is active in aerostructure pre-assembly, specifically fuselage sections for the Boeing 787 programme. Both operations were examined under the simplified merger review procedure. (C.D.)
