04/05/2007 (Agence Europe) - In March 2007, the volume of retail sales rose 2.6% in the eurozone and 3.6% in the EU27 compared with March 2006, explains Eurostat in a press release published on 4 May. Compared with February 2007, the retail price index rose 0.5% and 0.6% respectively in the eurozone and EU27. Annually, the sale of food, drinks and tobacco rose 2.1% in the eurozone and 2.3% in the EU27, while the non-food sector saw rises of 2.7% and 5.0% respectively. Compared with February 2007, sales of food, drink and tobacco rose 0.7% in both zones, while the non-food sector rose 0.2% in the eurozone and 0.5% in the EU27. (ab)
