13/05/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Ombudsman Nikiforos Diamandouros and the Commissioner for Human Rights at the Council of Europe Alvaro Gil-Robles took part at the beginning of the week in a seminar on the role of the Ombudsman in a state of law. This seminar took place in Turkey and aimed to allow participants, parliamentarians, Turkish ministers and magistrates, to reflect on the creation of such an institution in their country. A draft law, which is expected to be re-drafted in light of the week's discussions, could be submitted in the next few months at the national Grand Assembly in view of creating the role of Ombudsman in Turkey.
