13/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - Martin Rocholl, Director of the Organisation "Friends of the Earth - Europe", has asked Valéry Giscard d'Estaing to get the European convention to put sustainable development into the future Constitution of the EU, as one of its main objectives. According to Mr Rocholl, the preliminary outline presented by the President of the Convention to the European Council ignores four important objectives - sustainable development, gender equality, improvement of the quality of life and improving working conditions and waters down the objective of improving the quality of the environment. Mr Rocholl regretted that at the moment that Europe was enlarging with ten new members, there were "extremely worrying signs".
