13/12/2002 (Agence Europe) - On Friday in Copenhagen, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the European Parliament, Elmar Brok, was pleased to point out that the European council intended o apply the normal "Community method" to Turkey's application. This will mean that the decision on opening negotiations with a candidate country is taken in relation to a European Commission progress report. Mr Brok stressed that there would be no progress report in 2003, noting that the report on Turkey is not planned until autumn 2004.
