20/12/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the European Commission adopted legislative proposals for amending the statute of European officials. The texts would formalise the decision adopted by the Commission on 30 October on career structure, remuneration and pensions as well as general rules for the application of a new appraisal and promotion system for its staff. The proposals will be submitted for opinion to the Interinstitutional Staff Regulations Committee (on which representatives of both staff and the administrations of the EU Institutions sit), before being forwarded to the Council in March 2002.
