24/08/2001 (Agence Europe) - Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly President Lord Russell-Jonhston welcomed the definitive adoption of the electoral law by the Central Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This law was approved a few days ago by the Lower Chamber (see yesterday's EUROPE, p.2). Lord Russell-Johnston sees in this a major step to accession to the Council of Europe and hopes "that this will be followed by a speedy completion of the ongoing constitutional reform, which should align the constitutions of Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Convention on Human rights".
