29/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - A colloquy on the liberalisation of European postal services will be held at the "Palais des Congrès" in Strasbourg on Wednesday 16 May, at the initiative of Gérard Larcher, Vice-President of the French Senate. Entitled "European Postal Services: liberalisation and public service, myth and reality", the seminar will tackle the new European rules governing competition and the question of adjusting public services. Speakers will include the president of the European Parliament, Nicole Fontaine, Commissioners Michel Barnier and Frits Bolkestein, in charge of regional policy and the internal market respectively, Corrado Passera, the president of the Italian post office, and Laurent Fabius, French Minister for Economy and Finance.
