26/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - Due to the persistence of several European countries, the European Commission adopted a regulation last Wednesday authorising arable crop farmers to harvest until 31 March, whereas normally, given the Community provisions on land set-aside, they may only do so until 15 January. This regulation was published in the Official Journal dated 31 March. A previous regulation of 28 December 2000 had already extended the scheduled date, but the deadline of 31 March then only applied to beet and potato farmers. For the other crops, they should be harvested by 28 February at the latest.
