13/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission approved additional humanitarian aid of 8 million euro for El Salvador, which comes on top of the 2 million already supplied after the two earthquakes that devastated the country in January and February. Over half the envelope is earmarked for the provision of temporary shelter and a beginning to the renovation of homes, and the other major priorities are health and water. The Commissioner for humanitarian aid, Poul Nielson will visit El Salvador and the region from 25 to 30 March.
