09/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - MEPs who signed the SOS Democracy initiative state in a press release that, on 7 March in Brussels at the opening of the public debate on the Future of Europe, they had "descended" upon the Swedish and Belgian premiers and the president of the Commission to present an advance copy of their blueprint on "How to organise a European debate" (see EUROPE of 16 February, p.6, on the subject of their press conference in Strasbourg on this initiative). In a press release entitled "How to Build Europe the Eurosceptic Way", Jens-Peter Bonde (DK), Georges Berthu (France), José Ribeiro e Castro (Portugal) and British Conservatives Roger Helmer, Martin Callanan and Daniel Hannan accompanied by two Conservative members of the House of Commons, state they took part in this action.
