Brussels, 09/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Finance Ministers from the twelve countries of the Euro zone will gather this Sunday at 20pm under the Presidency of the Belgian Minister Didier Reynders, after a tree way meeting between the Eurogroup, the Commission and the Central Bank. The Eurogroup will carry out its traditional overview of the economic situation within the Euro zone and the international arena, starting with a briefing by Mr Reynders on the meeting of the G7 Finance in Palermo. The Ministers will then examine the document on the Broad Economic Policy Guidelines 2001, prepared by the Swedish Presidency in view of the Stockholm European Council, and the joint Council/Commission report on the contribution of state finances towards growth and employment. They will discuss, among others the report by the Group of Wise, chaired by Alexander Lamfalussy, on the regulation of financial markets, which will be the object of a sustained debate in the COREPER, this Friday. Furthermore, the Commission will insist during its meeting, for better coordination in the preparation of the transition to the Euro. Commissioner Pedro Solbes will speak on the monthly scoreboard (N°5) sent to the Eurogroup.
