30/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - Mario Monti, European Commissioner responsible for Competition, in his speech to the Davos Forum, outlined his ideas on the establishment of a "world competitiveness forum" within which would gather in an informal manner the bodies responsible for monitoring competition. "I do not think that we need a world antitrust, and for this reason the forum, which could be organised in the coming months, should be of an informal nature. Though it will act to encourage greater coordination between the basic principals of the regulation of market and the methods for enforcement", asserted Mr Monti.
