30/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Agriculture Ministers for the EU 15, gathered in Council in Brussels on 29 January, adopted a decision by the joint EU/Faroe Islands Committee setting the provisions for the implementation of the protocol on veterinary issues annexed to the agreement concluded in 1996 by the European Community on the one hand and the governments of Denmark and the Faroe Islands on the other. The decision aims to guarantee the maintaining of traditional commercial flows between the EU and the Faroe, mainly with regards to fish. Moreover, it specifies certain aspects of the Community acquis in veterinary matters that the Faroe islands have decided to adopt. All of these provisions will enter into force on 1 February 2001.
