24/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Greek joint Foreign Affairs Minister, Elisavet Papazoi, welcomed in Brussels the agreement reached on Monday by the EU Political Committee on the dialogue concerning European Security and Defence Committee to open between the EU and NATO and the European countries who are not members of the EU (obviously including Turkey). According to it, the agreement (which should be formally approved by the General Affairs council on 13 June to be presented to the Feira Summit) is in accordance with Greek views according to which, "if the particularities and autonomy" of the EU are ensured "there is no problem in the concretising of our sincere desire to have equal, transparent and functional relations with NATO and third countries" (see further the declarations made over this issue in Porto by the Turkish Defence Minister).
