04/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - By adopting the report tabled by the Belgian Christian-Democrat Marianne Thyssen, the European Parliament approved the plan for new guidelines on vertical restrictions to trade (between supplier and distributor: Ed.). It did, however, ask the Commission to detail and clarify certain notions so as to offer companies greater legal security. The vote on the report was postponed, for lack of a quorum, Friday at the last plenary session in Strasbourg. The "guidelines" inform companies of how the European Commission will assess the agreements in question.
