29/07/2016 (Agence Europe) - Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Peru ratify WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement. Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Peru this week submitted to the WTO their ratification instruments for the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), bringing the number of countries which have ratified the agreement concluded at the ninth ministerial conference of the WTO in December 2013 to 89. The TFA contains a raft of rules to simplify and streamline customs procedures and increase the participation of countries in developing world trade. The TFA will enter into force once two thirds of the member countries of the WTO (which now stand at 164, with the formal accessions of Afghanistan and Liberia in July) have ratified it. So far, more than 80% of the required ratifications have been received, the WTO announces in a press release. (EH)
